چکیده

The batik industry in Indonesia has an IKM (Small and Medium Industry) scale so that it does not yet have adequate waste treatment. In the long term, is disposed of directly into environment which can damage aquatic ecosystems harm human health. Textile wastewater a complementary picture deep color. One most dangerous heavy metals contained textile hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)). Several ways be done to reduce (Cr(VI)) by bioremediation. Based on results literature review, shows bioremediation agents from single isolate microorganisms are effective degrading with high efficiency Bacillus subtilis Pseudomonas aeruginosa. consortium servers constant reduction rates bacteria genus Mesophilobacter, Methylococcus, Agrobacterium, Neisseria, Xanthobacter, Deinococcus, Sporosarcina, reducing BOD levels 85.71%. chromium-degrading characterized presence chromate reductase enzymes, mostly gram-negative bacteria, growth rate.

Mechanisms of hexavalent chromium resistance and removal by microorganisms.

Chromium has been and is extensively used worldwide in multiple industrial processes and is routinely discharged to the environment from such processes. Therefore, this heavy metal is a potential threat to the environment and to public health, primarily because it is non-biodegradable and environmentally persistent. Chromium exists in several oxidation states, the most stable of which are triva...

Melanin-embedded materials effectively remove hexavalent chromium (CrVI) from aqueous solution

BACKGROUND Currently, it is recognized that water polluted with toxic heavy metal ions may cause serious effects on human health. Therefore, the development of new materials for effective removal of heavy metal ions from water is still a widely important area. Melanin is being considered as a potential material for removal of heavy metal from water. METHODS In this study, we synthesized two m...

Carcinogenicity of hexavalent chromium.

Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)), a commonly used industrial metal, is a well known human lung carcinogen. Epidemiology and animal studies suggest that the particulate Cr(VI) compounds, specifically the water insoluble compounds, are the more potent carcinogens; however, the carcinogenic mechanism remains unknown. Here we summarize recent Cr(VI)-induced human tumour, in vivo, cell culture and in vi...
